Spurs Receive: John Wall HOU (PG) 32,413,500, UFA, Pick 1.23, Pick 2.50 Magic receive: Darius Garland CLE (PG) 7,040,880, 8,920,795, 2023-24 RFA, Brook Lopez MIL (C) 16,206,750, UFA, Juancho Hernangomez MEM (PF) 5,775,000, UFA
I am aware as a rebuilding team, trading Garland is baffling, but I am also relieved of Brook Lopez and Juancho who did not fit in my plans going forward and likely would be out the door sooner than later. John Wall is still a damn fine PG as long as he is on the court, and if he can somehow miraculously stay healthy until I get Murray back, I am fine with his enormous 1 year salary. Picking up 2 picks helps my rebuild and I like some of the options available at 1.23. At 2.50 I feel I will be able to take a flier on a player who either slips, or as the geek I can be sometimes, find someone who fits what I'm looking for, even if he likely starts in the G-League

Approved
May regret not checking the draft board to see who is yet available.. but this offer came my way and I have to approve. Need the depth and love garland.
OK, let m please just add this. I know it can be confusing if I want to compete or rebuild, but I took stock of my team today and decided I was going to rebuild. Yes, I understand dealing Garland probably is not the most understandable move for a team wanting to rebuild, but I also have Murray. I know Murray is out until at least January, but despite the contract differential salary-wise, I would rather have Murray to build with instead of Garland due to team and style of game played in CLE vs DEN, not to mention overall team talent and team chemistry. Wall I am fully aware you are worried about the health factor but in HOU I still think he will be productive. I just hope he lasts until Murray comes back for even a few days. The picks help me rebuild and I am pretty sure I know my target at 1.23. 2.50 will be a crapshoot, but I'm prepared for whatever comes my way. Lopez I thought about as well, but at 33 just doesn't fir my plan, so I figured I should try to get something off him as at his age, who knows when the decline will start occurring or if MLW will acquire another C or limit his minutes this season and going forward.
With his deal, if I would like to challenge whether I need a player or not, I will watch and evaluate him before I decide to keep/drop the player. I do NOT envision anymore deals from m until at least halfway, if not more through FA as the prospect I am looking at helps me see my team in a bit more clarity
Sorry if this seems bad or weird, but I did think it through before accepting, though I do agree like most of you think I shoaled hav asked for more if I'm trading Garland. No though, this was NOT a tanking move. I am rebuilding. That is now clear and simple.

Veto 1-1
I’m sorry but I hate this deal for Spurs. Wall has gone 48-41-41-35 in fppg the last few years (and missed a year or only played half the games each year). So the idea he produces when he plays doesn’t fly with me. Garland was up to 31 fppg last season and I won’t be at all surprised if he averages more than Wall this season. Then there’s the contracts…. and age…
I don’t card who you get at 1.23 their value is nowhere near Garland. The fact that you like Murray as your pg makes no difference in this deal. You can still trade Garland but not for this.
Also, I understand Lopez and Juancho aren’t highly sought out pieces but maybe you can trade them later. It’s tough sometimes before free agency to trade guys like that. Or I’d rather just see you waive a guy like Juancho instead. Just with this deal your turning Harden into Wall and a late 1st.. and you didn’t do well getting Harden. I don’t want to revisit the progression of your trades.. Maybe some of that’s on us not giving more guidance but most of us don’t like to be overbearing. Anyways… I’d chill a little bit and get multiple offers before making moves in the future. Sorry to Orlando as well.
It's amazing, with the blink of an eye, you finally see the light It's amazing, when the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright It's amazing! And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
